Courses and Workshops
The Australian Institute of Dermatology runs a 3 year course which educates you to a level of expertise in the diagnosis and management of skin diseases such that you can handle most skin presentations without the help of a Specialist Dermatologist. This is particularly useful for doctors working in rural areas of Australia or in outer city areas poorly serviced by Specialist Dermatologists.
In year 1 you take the AID Membership Course. If you pass this you are invited to take the Advanced Course which normally runs over a two year period but can be done in one year. It covers Specialist Medical Dermatology, Dermatopathology, Dermatoscopy, Derm Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology.
